According to the Mackinac Island website:

The holiday spirit was evident with the island’s annual tree lighting and Christmas bazaar.

This year’s tree lighting was on Main Street with Christmas carols and plenty of holiday cheer. Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry added a 6 p.m. boat on Nov. 30 so visitors could enjoy the tree lighting. A Christmas bazaar ran in early December to raise money for the island’s churches and medical center.

The old-fashioned festivities are among the reasons HGTV named Mackinac Island one of the Top 10 Christmas Towns in America.

Summer, like winter, will come again, but until then nothing but quiet.

Nightlife on Mackinac…dark and lonely…yet peacefully inviting. Deep breathes of cold fresh air and the absence of noise was refreshing, to say the least. -Lisa Flaska Erickson
Christmas has come early…what a gift. Such color…such cold…so worth it.
